Do you know that when you wake up your blood sugar is at its highest? This is called the Dawn Effect.

According to Dr. Rob Cywes the CarbAddiction Doc it happens to every person between 4 – 8am due to the liver releasing stored sugar. It is a natural physiological effect. As it is a natural effect rather than trying to change it, change your behavior.

Wait till you test your blood sugar in the morning. Dr. Cywes recommends to wait at least 2 hours after you get up before you test your blood sugar. By then your blood sugar should have naturally lowered. Yes, that means you don’t eat anything during those 2 hours.

When you go to the hospital for your a1c blood test, it is best to wait until just before lunch.
~Dr. Cyves

If you are intermittent fasting, waiting this long should not be a problem.
